Why KYSCU? / The Challenge
Uganda’s greatest resource is its young people, yet millions face a critical gap between education and economic independence. Data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Labour Market Survey 2025 highlights the stark development challenges confronting our youth today:
- Youth Unemployment (Age 15–24): 17.9%
- Youth NEET Rate (Age 15–24): 42.6% of young people are Not in Employment, Education, or Training.
- Total NEET Youth (Age 15–24): 4,001,528 individuals left without active pathways.
- Youth NEET Rate (Age 18–30): 50.9%—more than half of our young adults lack engagement.
- Total NEET Youth (Age 18–30): 5,250,768 young people sidelined from economic growth.
KYSCU exists to help bridge the gap between practical skills and economic opportunity, helping young people move from skills acquisition towards employment, enterprise, and sustainable livelihoods.
